Ground water in a basement. #SERVPROsouthwestwaukeshacounty #stormdamage #waterinbasement

Three to four times a year we experience a microburst of rain or bad weather.  Today was one of those days.  Having the severe weather last night and a total of 6 inches of rain over the last 4 days, we have a HUGE increase in the volume of calls for emergency water damage. We will have crews working all through the weekend to help as much as possible. Unfortunately, at times like this, we just can’t provide help to everyone that asks us.

People assume that when they have all this water in their basement that insurance will cover the damage. However, in many cases, ground water intrusion is not a covered event. Sump pump failure usually is covered, but water coming in from under the foundation or through the foundation typically is not covered. In times like these, we recommend that you call your insurance agent to determine if you have coverage. We are not licensed agents so we cannot interpret insurance policies or determine coverage.  When there is no coverage, the customer can decide to pay for services as a “self-pay” or find another solution. Remember to call SERVPRO when you need water or storm damage restoration services.  We are always here to help!
