Snow fall on Halloween in Waukesha 2019

When the weather man called the forecast, I think the majority of us wanted to call his bluff. It wasn’t until the day of all hollows-eve when we arose to the sight of heavy snow flakes falling from grey skies.

This was a record breaking event for Milwaukee. Beating the last record of 4 inches back in 1926. While we were shocked, this isn’t the first time the east coast has seen heavy snow fall before Santa makes his way to town. In 2012 what was left of Hurricane Sandy caused an inland blizzard of up to 2 feet of snow on parts of Maryland, Virginia, and South Carolina. Mind you, that was right before November as well. So although uncommon, not completely rare.

On an evening when children should have been excited to collect all their treats, and show off their costumes; many counties in southern Wisconsin had to reschedule their Trick or Treating activities for the weekend following the Holiday. Waukesha received up to 5 inches in some parts of town! Though it did not appear that these kids were in any level of disapproval, as we saw many snow angels following the unexpected event.

Does this mean that we are in for a frightful winter wonderland to come? Some believe that this may be the case. The best thing you can do, is try your best to be prepared.

In the event that a disaster happens.. always remember SERVPRO of Southwest Waukesha is always here to help! 262.542.0900.
