Rain Storm Caught Roofing Vendor By Surprise and Caused Water Damage

SERVPRO of Southwest Waukesha County gets called for many different types of water damage.  Many people assume that we are ONLY called out by insurance agents and property owners.  That is not true.  In fact, we often get calls for water damage that occurred as a result of contractors that have caused some type of damage or something unexpected happened and they are liable for the cleanup.

In this first photo a Nashotah, Wisconsin home was having their shingles replaced.  Before the new shingles were installed, the old layers had to be removed.  During the tear-off, an unexpected rain storm developed leaving the rooftop exposed without shingles.  The contractors did what they could to prevent the rain from getting in, but the storm came too fast. The rain had gone through the insulation and drywall and was dripping into the hallway near the stairs.  The contractors hung plastic to contain the water but the damage was already done.

The second photo is what the ceiling looked like after SERVPRO of SW Waukesha County technicians removed the plastic containment and drywall ceiling.  The next step after that was to set up drying equipment to thoroughly dry the structure.
